J. Allen Lawson is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Quentin T. Lawson. He was born and raised in Valdosta with his two brothers. After high school, Allen served his country in the United States Army in both Germany and Colorado. He was Honorably Discharged in 1989. He then came home to obtain dual degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University in only three years. After graduating from the Walter F. George School of Law in 1995, he immediately began working as a trial attorney. With over 18 years of experience as a trial attorney, Allen has served as a trial lawyer in both civil and criminal cases ranging from simple contract disputes to felony murder trials. From 1995 to 2010, Allen made his home in the middle Georgia area. He served as the Solicitor General in Jones County, Georgia, for nine years before, once again, returning to his hometown of Valdosta. He currently resides in South Georgia with his family. He has been the lead attorney in hundreds of criminal cases and civil cases. His experience has led him to argue before juries in state, superior, and federal courts in Georgia as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals.
