Definition - What does Abuse of Power mean?
Abuse of power in simple terms may be defined as any unlawful act which is done by a person in an official capacity, and which may have an (often negative) impact on the performance of a company, organization, etc. It can also be explained as using the official power that a person has for achieving something of personal level.

Abuse of power can be explained with an example where a high ranking government official violates traffic law and then tries to influence the officer who caught him with his position. Similarly, a police officer might be found guilty of abuse of power if he or she takes revenge from someone at a personal level using official powers.
