Definition - What does Business mean?

Business is any endeavor made by a person, or a group of people, to make a financial profit. It typically involves the trading of goods and/or services for money. There are many, many different types of enterprises that qualify as a business. For example, a person selling hot dogs on the street qualifies as business as does a construction company building a house.

The purpose of business is for people to make money. When an individual participates in business, they typically trade a good or service for payment from another person. The person can then use the money that they earn to buy the goods and/or services of other people. In this way, a person can make a living. A person can be self employed or they can work for a company owned by others.
