Definition - What does Acceptance of Plea mean?

Acceptance of plea refers to court taking legal notice of whether the criminal defendant states that they are "guilty" or "not guilty." After the acceptance of plea, there are a few statuary requirements and limitations in capital cases and in cases where an accused may plead guilty.
