Definition - What does Arrestee mean?

An arrestee is a person who has been apprehended by law enforcement due to suspected criminal activity.

Arrestees often have handcuffs placed on their wrists during the arrest process. This helps law enforcement prevent them from escaping or resisting arrest.

People who are arrested are not yet convicted of their accused crime.

Justipedia explains Arrestee

Arrests can be made if a law enforcement member witnesses a person participate in criminal activity, or if a warrant is put out for the person's arrest.

An arrest is the first step in the criminal justice process. Following an arrest, an arrestee may have to begin preparing for a criminal trial. The severity of the act that they were arrested for will determine whether or not they will have a full criminal trial, or whether or not they may just be fined.
