Justipedia explains Divorce Laws

When a couple gets married, they often undergo a number of legal changes. For example, they may merge assets or they may have children. Those are two examples of legal issues that can be created by the marriage. So, when a married couple gets divorced, many of these legal issues must be resolved. The assets must be split up between the parties. Child support and child custody must be determined. There are laws for these types of issues so that one partner cannot just abandon the situation and leave the other with the majority of the responsibilities. These laws help to look after the best interest of children.
