Workplace Safety

Definition - What does Workplace Safety mean?

Workplace safety is a set of rules and policies in a workplace that are designed to prevent accidents and to ensure the well being of the workers at the location. Some of these policies include employee safety training and hazard identification. Workplace safety is particularly important at work locations where there is significant danger such as construction sites and mines.

Justipedia explains Workplace Safety

Workplace safety is meant to protect employees from any dangers of the job. Although it may not seem that important for jobs where there is not a lot of physical danger, such as at an office, many job sites include significant threats. For example, any workplace that includes the use of heavy machinery has a strong need for workplace safety policies. Without it, the company runs the risk of its employees getting seriously injured or having preventable accidents on the job.
