Definition - What does Frisk mean?
A frisk is a light patting of the body done by law enforcement members to try to detect if a person is carry a weapon. The purpose of a frisk is not to search for evidence; instead, it is simply to make sure that there is not an immediate threat to law enforcement or to those around the scene.
Justipedia explains Frisk
Frisking refers to when a law enforcement agent checks a person quickly to see if he or she is carrying a gun or another weapon. Frisking is necessary because it is not always easy to tell if a person has a gun on his or her person. For example, a person may be hiding the gun in his/her sock. If the law enforcement agent doesn't frisk the person, and he or she is carrying a gun, then the situation can become dangerous.
