Definition - What does Partial Claim mean?

Partial claim is a type of a loan guaranteed by Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). It is an interest free loan granted to people delinquent on Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loans. The amount of the loan is the actual amount needed to reinstate the mortgage. In many cases, homeowners may seek the advice of a foreclosure attorney when pursuing a partial claim.

One of the main conditions attached to partial claim is the fact that homeowner will pay back the loan right after they pay off their first mortgage or after the property is sold. To qualify for partial claim, the loan must be 4 to 12 months delinquent.
