Subordinate

Definition - What does Subordinate mean?

Subordinate is something that is under something else. In terms of real estate, there can be subordinate clauses or terms within a sale of a property or within another part of the transaction. In a debt sense, a subordinate debt would take place after other debts and a home loan is usually not subordinate to other loans. Whichever is listed as the subordinate, the rights of that subject or person would come after the primary debt or person.
