Definition - What does Walk Through mean?

A walk through is the final process that occurs to ensure that the home is in the condition described by the seller. A walk through is generally performed on the day of closing and is scheduled through the real estate agent. It is important to perform a final walk through as there may have been changes to the property since the last time the buyer viewed it.

It is suggested that buyers bring their home inspectors to the walk through so that the home inspector may determine that the home is as specified in the purchase agreement; that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing is properly working. If the buyer performs the walk through on their own, it is highly recommended that he or she turn on all faucets, flush all toilets, test all electrical outlets, ensure that appliances are working, and check the air conditioning unit among other things.
