Alex Lampert joined NSB as a Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Fellow in 2012, bringing her interest and experience in criminal defense and social justice to work on cases at the intersection of civil rights and criminal justice reform.
While at Stanford Law, Alex gained litigation experience by interning at several indigent defense organizations and participating in the Stanford Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, where she contributed to briefing in high-profile cases including a death penalty appeal and a voting rights challenge. She also helped lead an interdisciplinary seminar on criminal justice policy at San Quentin State Prison, and worked as a research assistant on a project that analyzed changes to California’s system of parole release for individuals with life sentences.
