Chapin grew up in Louisville swimming for Plainview Swim Club, Triton Swimming, and lettered each of her four years on the varsity swim team at Eastern High School. In her senior year at Eastern, Chapin began competing in mock trial and knew then that she would one day become a litigator.Chapin went on to attend college at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. There she continued to compete in mock trial, and won awards for her work as an advocate at the Regional and Opening Round Championship levels of American Mock Trial Association competitions. In her senior year at Mary Washington, Chapin worked for Livesay & Meyers, P.C. in Fredericksburg with the head of the firm’s criminal defense team. She graduated manga cum laude with her Bachelors in Political Science in May 2012 after just three years of study.
