Cheryl Gilley Rice
Ms. Rice has practiced law for over 20 years and is a licensed attorney in Tennessee, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She has extensive experience handling civil litigation matters for individuals and businesses in both state and federal courts and regularly assists large and small companies with breach of contract claims, unfair trade practice claims, matters involving tortious interference with contract and other business relationships and shareholder disputes. She also represents the interests of businesses and individuals in matters such as enforcement of non-compete and confidentiality agreements, trade secret matters, personnel policy issues, and wrongful termination.
Cheryl enjoys an “AV” rating, as voted by her peers, in the national Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Ms. Rice was recognized by CityView Magazine in 2012 as one of the Top Attorneys in Knoxville in the area of Consumer Protection Defense. She is a member of the American, Tennessee, and Knox County Bar Associations and of the Litigation Sections of the TBA and ABA. She is also a member of the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women, currently serving as Immediate Past President. She has co-chaired the KBA’s Juvenile Court & Child Justice Section since 2009 and is also a member of the KBA's Law Office Technology Committee. In January 2015, Governor Haslam appointed her as chair of the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments, which body interviews applicants for judicial vacancies and nominates a panel of 3 from which the Governor will make an appointment. Her publications include a feature article for Trial, the magazine of the AAJ.
