Fred DeVore is a civil litigator, who focuses his practice in the areas of catastrophic injury,wrongful death, construction litigation, insurance bad faith, contract litigation andcondemnation law. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as lead counsel on numerous cases and has handled more than 40 appellate matters in the North Carolina Court of Appeals, North Carolina Supreme Court and the United States Fourth Circuit and is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court.Fred has tried or settled many matters in excess of $1 million and in 2006, he and his partner, Troy Stafford, obtained a settlement of over $10 million for an injured client. In 2013, Fred obtained a $ 1.5 million insurance bad faith verdict, and together with another firm, received a jury verdict of $6 million in a wrongful death action.Additionally, Fred is frequent lecturer to various bar and judicial organizations, focusing on issues ranging from construction defects to insurance bad faith. He is a past vice-president of the Bobbitt Inns of Court, which is an organization dedicated to training young lawyers on trial techniques. He is a noted author for several publications, including the Wake Forest Law Review, the South Carolina Law Review and Trial Brief, which is published by the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.
