Heather K. Martin received her Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law, Camden, in 1999. After Ms. Martin's graduation from law school, she served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas W. Cavanagh, Jr., J.S.C., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth County Family Part. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Martin received her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science, in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1994, cum laude, and she received her graduate degree, a Master's of Science, in Criminology from St. Joseph's University in 1996, summa cum laude.
Ms. Martin has successfully handled a variety of cases in her practice of family and matrimonial law over her career. Ms. Martin has experience with all facets of family law litigation, including domestic violence, adoptions, civil unions and domestic partnerships, prenuptial agreements, contested issues of custody, parenting time, child support, alimony and equitable distribution of assets. Ms. Martin is also a court approved family mediator and has been trained in the practice of collaborative law, whereby the parties agree not to litigate and they resolve their differences outside of the courtroom, often with the help of forensic, mental health and/or child experts.
