James (“Jim”) Smith loves kids (he has five of them!), sailing, camping, and reading about maritime and Utah history. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the University of Utah law school. Jim’s practice focuses on child welfare cases, divorce, and parentage cases; and he also has extensive knowledge of consumer bankruptcy and criminal defense. He is particularly interested in the way various fields of law can interconnect with each other (how a bankruptcy can affect a divorce case, for example), and is also pursuing an interest in alternative dispute resolution.
Before coming to Lokken and Associates, Jim practiced criminal defense and family law with an emphasis on bankruptcy. A native Californian, Jim now lives with his family in Lehi where he volunteers with his local Boy Scout troop and continually adds to his collection of Titanic books and memorabilia.
