Jason L. Hortenstine
His broad practice encompasses estate planning, personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, products liability, real estate, business planning, family law and other general areas. While at the firm he has assisted in obtaining substantial jury verdicts for clients. This success includes second chairing a $1,269,815 verdict in Coles County, and acting as lead counsel in the largest trip and fall verdict in Richland County history. He is licensed in the state of Illinois, the Central and Southern federal Districts of Illinois, and in U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
As a native of Cooks Mills and graduate of Mattoon High School, he obtained a bachelor's in finance from Eastern Illinois University, graduating summa cum laude. He received his law degree from Southern Illinois University, graduating magna cum laude. He also served as an editor for the SIU Law Journal. Prior to law school, he founded and operated Hortenstine Wealth Management, a financial planning service. In addition, he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.
