Jeffrey H. Powell
Jeffrey Powell is a partner at Reno & Zahm LLP with a general practice that focuses on civil litigation, business law, and employment law.
Mr. Powell graduated cum laude from West Virginia University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Before attending law school, he gained experience as a consultant at CRA International, a leading global consulting firm, where he was involved in a broad range of financial and economic engagements, including the evaluation of damages in intellectual property and anti-trust disputes.
Mr. Powell graduated magna cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2008, where he was a member of the Board of Editors for the Law Review. His note “Marshall v. Burger King Corp.: Making a Mess of ‘Duty’ for Businesses in Illinois” has been cited in two appellate court opinions, including an Illinois Supreme Court opinion. He has presented on the topic of criminal background checks and authored an article on the use of strict foreclosures under the Uniform Commercial Code.
Presently, Mr. Powell serves as a board member for the Golden Apple Foundation and the Rockford Area Arts Council. He is also active in the Winnebago County Bar Association, serving as a board member and Chairman of the Federal Section.
