Jennifer E. Burke
Jennifer Burke is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and focuses her practice on all aspects of civil litigation. She is an experienced trial lawyer concentrating on employment discrimination litigation, professional liability, premises liability and insurance coverage matters.
Ms. Burke’s employment practice focuses primarily on the representation of employers in litigation matters including discrimination litigation (age, gender, disability, race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation and sexual harassment), wrongful termination, wage and hour, breach of contract, FMLA and whistleblower cases. Ms. Burke has represented clients in state, federal and appellate courts in Massachusetts, as well as before administrative agencies including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance. In addition to defending employment litigation cases, Ms. Burke routinely counsels employers on litigation avoidance in all aspects of the employment relationship, including hiring, discipline, suspension, termination and dismissal. She also drafts employee handbooks, policies, protocols, employment contracts, separation agreements and non-compete agreements.
