John C. Nolan
John Nolan, a distinguished member of the Gresham Savage Nolan & Tilden litigation department for over 49 years, has a stellar reputation throughout California as a civil litigator.
Mr. Nolan is particularly experienced with suits brought under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA"). An example of Mr. Nolan's successful advocacy is the significant appellate decision inMaintain Our Desert Environment v. Town of Apple Valley, 120 Cal.App.4th 396, which, for the first time in the 40 plus year existence of CEQA, concluded that the identity of a project's end-user is irrelevant, unless that user is shown to possibly create unique environmental impact. Because of his extensive experience with CEQA, Mr. Nolan is frequently sought as counsel by both project proponents and municipalities. He has been successful both at trial, and appellate levels representing cities, counties, developers, retailers and railroads.
