John has retired from Swenson Lervick and the practice of law, and we sincerely thank him for his years of leadership at the firm. Still, he continues to be a positive influence on the firm and the community as a whole.John handled civil litigation of all types for Swenson Lervick starting in 1970. He represented clients in a broad spectrum of litigation areas, including motor vehicle, insurance, personal injury, municipal, school and business law. John served as Alexandria City Attorney from 1975 – 2012, and he served as counsel to Alexandria School District 206.
He was widely involved in community affairs and served on the board of directors and in officer positions for the Alexandria Rotary Club, Alexandria Golf Club, Alexandria/Douglas County Developers, and First Lutheran Church. He also served as President of the Douglas County Bar Association, chair of the Seventh District Ethics Committee, and as a member of the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board. He continues to be a positive influence on the firm and the community as a whole.
