Katherine Lewis Parker
Katy Parker joined the Tin Fulton Walker & Owen in 2012, after serving six years as the Legal Director for the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina, where she directed the ACLU’s legal program for the entire state of North Carolina. During her tenure at the ACLU-NC, Katy argued and won several cases at the state and federal level, including a religious discrimination case in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. While at the ACLU-NC, Katy taught CLEs and litigated cases related to issues ranging from free speech and freedom of religion, police misconduct, racial profiling, LGBT rights, to the rights of the incarcerated. Katy also regularly appeared in local, state and national media as an expert on civil liberties issues in North Carolina, including an appearance on the The Rachel Maddow Show in December 2009.
