As an English teacher at an inner-city high school near Oakland, CA, Krista Stipe enjoyed making a difference in young people’s lives, especially those living in difficult situations. She learned she liked working one-on-one with others, as well as collaboratively in small groups. What she didn’t like, however, was dealing with teens in a problematic environment.
So when her number came up to serve on a jury, she embraced her civic duty. Fascinated with the legal process and the case, she decided to pursue a law degree, knowing that her educational background and problem-solving abilities would serve her well.
While attending Seattle University’s law school, Krista decided to specialize in family law because of her interest in assisting people from all walks of life. “I love to work with people and hear their stories,” she said. “I love to help resolve a problem and formulate a plan for the future.”
