M. Janelle Lyons
M. Janelle Lyons is a Partner in the Charlotte office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog, practicing in the Defense Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm, Janelle was an associate at Bowman Green Hampton & Kelly, PLLC in Chesapeake, Virginia and also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Norman A. Thomas and the Honorable Chuck D. Griffith on the Norfolk, Virginia Circuit Court.
Janelle concentrates her practice in the areas of employment law, municipal and police law, professional liability, premises liability matters, and family law with a primary focus on premises liability and employment law.
Janelle has successfully represented various for-profit corporations, nonprofit corporations, municipalities, homeowners associations, and professionals against claims since 2006. She has obtained favorable results in arbitrations, mediations and in federal and state court, including the NC Business Court, and has also been retained to provide on-going advice to ensure compliance with state and federal law in regard to various personnel matters.
Janelle is also a member of the firm’s diversity committee, and is active in the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and is co-president of the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys.
