Marielis Rivera was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and she speaks Spanish fluently. She graduated from Florida State University in 1998, where she earned a dual degree in Political Science and Sociology. Ms. Rivera attended the University of Miami School of Law on a full academic-based scholarship and earned the Cali Excellence Award in Legal Research and Writing. She also served on the Moot Court Board and on the editorial board of the Journal of Psychology, Public Policy and Law.Ms. Rivera spent the first eight years of her legal career representing insurance companies and their insureds in litigation matters involving allegations of personal injury, premises liability, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and neglect, and wrongful death. She now utilizes the insights she gained working for insurers to represent wrongfully injured persons and their families.
