Matthew T. Collett is an associate attorney at Vernis & Bowling of North Florida, P.A., in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University in 2006, and his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009. Matthew excelled as a law student, where he graduated in the top 11% of his class and received multiple Dean’s Scholar and Dean’s List awards, as well as Book Awards and Best Brief and Memorandum of Law Awards for his skills in legal writing and research. He also earned a certificate in Advanced Legal Research and Writing. Throughout law school Matt honed his legal skills while clerking at local civil trial and litigation firms where he primarily focused on personal injury and insurance defense litigation.Matt is admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel, and the Defense Research Institute.
Matt’s main areas of concentration include general insurance defense litigation, professional malpractice, medical malpractice, premises liability litigation, automobile liability litigation, wrongful death litigation, government liability litigation, first and third party casualty claims, collections, foreclosure, real estate litigation, bankrucpty issues relating to real estate lender representation, homeowner’s and condominium association litigation and construction defect litigation.On his free time, Matt enjoys fishing, camping, and kayaking on the inshore waterways of Jacksonville and anywhere else where the fish are biting. Matt also enjoys golfing despite his sky high handicap, and he plays softball in Jacksonville’s local spring and fall softball leagues.
