Maya G. Flowers
Maya Guntz Flowers is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At the age of twelve she was injured in serious car accident after a van landed on top of her crushing her right side. McKernan Law Firm successfully resolved her claim against the insurance company and the experience inspired her to become an attorney herself.
Mrs. Flowers received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in history from Hampton University in Hampton, VA; there she was awarded the Armistead Award for the outstanding graduate in the fields of History and Political Science. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Southern University Law Center. While at the Law Center she served as Articles Editor of the Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty, Chair of the Fredrick Douglass Moot Court Board, a member of the National Civil Rights Mock Trial team, and a fellow for the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project.
