Meredith L. Schramm-Strosser
Meredith Schramm-Strosser is an employment attorney and business litigator in the Firm's Commercial Litigation group where she counsels employers on a wide range of employment and business operations-related legal obligations. While a zealous advocate and aggressive litigator when necessary, Meredith approaches her client’s needs from the perspective of a pragmatist and businesswoman: believing that most legal disputes can be prevented, and even when unavoidable, every dispute need not immediately go to the courtroom.
Meredith counsels her clients on the employment laws that confront employers each day, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act (about which Meredith has published), as well as the state and local counterparts to these important federal employment statutes. She also assists clients with contractual disputes, such as non-solicitation and non-competition clauses and breach of contract claims. Meredith uses her knowledge to counsel employers on practices, procedures, policies and other preventative measures, such as reviewing handbooks, preparing severance agreements, drafting employment contracts, and providing legal compliance trainings and seminars. When litigation is necessary, she advances her client's strategic goals and brings to counsel’s table experience litigating employment matters before federal and state courts in DC and Metro Area at the trial and appellate level, as well as before federal, state, and local administrative agencies.
