Michael K. Gaerte
A native of Indianapolis and a graduate of North Central High School, Michael received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. While in Cincinnati, in addition to earning his undergraduate degree, Michael successfully managed several city-wide political campaigns. Following his undergraduate studies, Michael enrolled at the Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
While in law school, Michael participated in the school's clinical program, which allowed him to function as a deputy prosecuting attorney at the Forsyth County (N.C.) District Attorney's office, where he prosecuted misdemeanors and traffic offenses in criminal court. Also through the clinic program, Michael was able to assist indigent clients with civil litigation via the Legal Aid Society of Northwest North Carolina. As a student, Michael qualified to participate as a member of the Student Trial Bar, served as the Vice President of the Environmental Law Society, and as an Officer on the Criminal Law Roundtable. Michael has also worked as a legal intern at the Indiana Civil Liberties Union, wherein he assisted with civil rights litigation, and as a law clerk at Kiefer and McGoff, a litigation firm in Indianapolis that has since merged with the law firm of Bingham and McHale.
