Rick Mendelson is a third-generation Alexandrian, and a graduate of George Washington High School in Alexandria. He began his legal career in 1969 as an associate member of Fagelson, Schonberger, Billowitz & Grenadier in Alexandria, focusing on real estate law. In 1975, he served as an Assisant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Alexandria, and in 1981, became Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney for the City. For ten years as a prosecutor, Rick handled cases involving criminal matters, including crimes against the person, and property crimes including white-collar offenses. He joined Land, Clark and Carroll in 1985 and concentrates his practice in real estate litigation, trust and estates litigation, and civil litigation.
