Robert S. Whims
Born in Detroit, Robert Whims graduated from the University of Michigan Undergraduate School of Business in 1984, majoring in finance. Mr. Whims attended Pepperdine University School of Law on an academic scholarship. Mr. Whims was a member of the Law Review while at Pepperdine, and graduated in 1988.
Mr. Whims is admitted to practice law in Michigan state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Western Districts of Michigan, Wisconsin, and the Southern District of California. Mr. Whims is a member of the California State Bar, and served as a Deputy District Attorney in both Orange County and San Diego County for over 10 years. His approximately 200 trials include many complex civil matters as well as the prosecution of numerous murders, drive-by shootings and other serious felonies. Mr. Whims is on the Board of Directors of the state-wide organization, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ), where he has served as a lecturer on trial techniques.
Mr. Whims is a dedicated family man, outdoorsman, and gentleman-farmer. In addition, he is a licensed residential builder, and past President of the Grand Traverse Area Home Builder’s Association, where he has spoken and published a number of articles of interest. Recently Mr. Whims was elected to serve for four additional years as Trustee of the township where he and his family reside. Mr. Whims specializes in all areas of civil and corporate litigation, criminal law, family law and divorce matters.
