Scott T. Ashby
Family has always been very important to me. I grew up on a farm in Quincy, Washington. Growing up, I loved competition and I found an outlet for that in sports. I was never a great athlete, but for everyone who knows me, I love to win—and I hate to lose! As I grew older, my competitive nature extended to school and then my career.
After graduating from Central Washington University and then Cornell Law School, I was recruited by big law firms to work for big businesses. For 17 years I worked in a firm with more than 1500 attorneys in offices around the world. I was a high-stakes litigator, and I sued big businesses on behalf of other big businesses so that shareholders could have more profit. I was really good at it. But I felt more and more dissatisfied because I wasn’t really helping people. Because of that, I left a comfortable position and opened my own firm so that I could help people.
