Susan R. Kent
After growing up in Vermont, Susan’s adventurous spirit led her to attend college at the University of California where she developed a special interest in medicine. While putting herself through school, Susan spent three years working for the college’s pre-eminent pre-med and biomedical research facilities where she cared for a variety of research animals and assisted in the collection of raw data for medical studies involving AIDS and cancer research. She also worked for esteemed physiologist, Dr. Mary Baker, who studied the osmolality of cerebral spinal fluid and its effects on diabetes.
After graduating from college, Susan attended law school at the University of Miami. She put herself through law school working as a resident assistant in the school’s dormitories, clerking, and doing legal research for various lawyers on an independent basis. These opportunities allowed Susan to secure a permanent job at a prestigious national law firm before she graduated law school. After that law firm later dissolved, Susan accepted a job working for a small firm in Coral Gables where she primarily represented asbestos companies in products liability claims.
