Theron Simmons was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee. He attended and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration. After graduating, Theron worked as a police officer for several years before entering law school.
Theron attended law school at the St. Thomas University School of Law where he obtained his J.D. and graduated Cum Laude. While in law school Theron’s honors included Dean’s List each semester, awards for the highest grade in his class in Evidence, Corporations, and Criminal Procedure, and a merit scholarship award. Theron was also the Executive Editor of the St. Thomas University Law Review and Competitions Chairman for the International Moot Court. While obtaining his J.D. from St. Thomas, Theron co-authored an article with Prof. Ediberto Roman entitled Membership Denied: subordination and subjugation under United States expansionism which was published in the 39 San Diego L. Rev. 437-523 (2002).
