Zakiya Watson serves as Of Counsel to the Molden Law Firm, LLC. In that capacity, she serves the firm's clients in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation.Prior to joining the Molden Law Firm, LLC, Zakiya worked as an associate at a boutique litigation firm in New York, handling foreclosure defense matters. She also maintained her own practice handling criminal defense cases and transactional matters for small businesses.Zakiya received her undergraduate degree in Business Management & Finance from Brooklyn College. Zakiya graduated from Drake University with her Masters in Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees. While attending law school, Zakiya served on the executive boards for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), Black Law Student Association (BLSA), and the Student Bar Association (SBA). While serving as Vice President for BLSA, the chapter successfully tripled its membership, implemented mentor programs, increased the amount of academic programs, and was runner-up for the National BLSA Johnny Cochran award for Public Service in 2009. With APALSA, she helped organize the first annual Immigration Clinic. As Treasurer of the SBA, she oversaw the budgets for approximately thirty-five student organizations and headed the financial committee.Prior to entering Drake, Zakiya served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 2002-2010, where she worked as a Chemical Operations Specialist.Zakiya was born and raised in New York. Zakiya loves to run and is deeply involved in community affairs that focus on improving urban education.
